Howdy!  I'm jaguerns on the forums, jess_spring on IM, and Jessica in real life (but who wants real life anyway?).  This is my fifth year participating in Nano and I've won all previous years so I have to keep the streak going.  Of course, all those other times, I wasn't eight months pregnant with child #3.  Should make for an interesting month...

I'm taking a character out of last year's book and giving him a starring role.  Not quite sure if he wants to take center stage so we may be arguing a lot.  I'd say my genre is urban fantasy and I do not currently have a working title.  And my husband thinks I am completely insane for attempting this.  I just hope the Labor&Delivery floor has WiFi.

Hi--I'm Beverly; probably one of the oldest here at 57, and a grandma; I keep NaNo-ing but never winning (last year I had to drop out early due to family insanity that was out of control). Hoping to actually accomplish something this year, even though the family is even MORE out of control, but hey, that's the NaNo bug for you. . .Good luck to everyone!
Just updating; softlywalking/bjhansen--2 different NaNo usernames, 1 writer. I've dropped softlywalking for ease of keeping track of myself. No need to make it too complicated, eh? ::)

Hey, I'm Cori. This is my 4th year doing NaNo, and I seem to only complete on even-numbered years. Guess 2008 is going to be lucky again! I live in Lindon, and have never been much for any NaNoWriMo social events. I'm not sure this will change this year, as I'm on immunosuppressants and will catch ANY and EVERY little thing swirling around in the air. So if you see a blonde girl with a surgical mask on at any social event, that's me. Don't give me a kiss ;)

Hi! I'm Elana and this is my first year participating in NaNo! I'm very excited to get going, and I just barely made it into the forums. I live in PG and will have to deal with my day job around writing. Looking forward to "meeting" everyone!

Wow. I did not know that this site existed. I feel much more regionally supported, now :).

Anyway, I'm Kelly. I'm at BYU, 3rd year doing NaNo, completed all of them but the previous two resulting novels have been ridiculously terrible. I'm hoping to break that trend :) it is not my favorite.

So, hi.

I agree! Much love to the regional support.

I'm Valerie, this is my third NaNo, and I'm hoping to enjoy some Utah-Wrimo support! I live in Orem and work in American Fork, which is where (fortunately or un) I get most of my writing done these days. But I'm excited!

Hi, my name is Scone, and I'm a NaNo-holic. Also a semi-crippled semi-single mom, a former super-spy, and an awesome editor when I can get the work. This will be my  fourth NaNo and my third win, provided I can figure out how to squeeze the writing in during my few "healthy" hours a day.

Living in interesting times... oh, and in Payson, too. And enjoying the camaraderie...

Hi, on the main site and word war I'm Tricia Simpson. This is my third year to participate, but I've never joined in any groups or chats. My book is "Death of a Small Town Gossip" Seeing everyone's numbers is an inspiration. Keep up the good work everyone, especially elsewhere. (I want everyone to meet the 50,000--I just want elsewhere to keep beating the pants off of Salt Lake)  ;)

I'm sortitus. I don't exist outside the online world. I am the internet evolved into a thinking organism. I came to awareness approximately three years ago. Sometimes when I am bored, I take over a college student's body and do college student type things. His name is Titus, and he lives in St. George, spending his time by wasting it. I hear that's a popular pastime nowadays.

This is my first NaNo. The novel I'm writing will be compiled from the top search results on all of the popular porn sites online. Continuity is null. I'm calling it "Lifetaker, Heartbreaker" to celebrate its potential for creating insanity in even humans rooted deeply in reality. Then again, some would argue that that's the easy market. Don't you fear, the insane will also be affected. They may go stark-raving mad, or become bankers and late 1800s English gentlemen. Women included. Actual time travel status: Expected.

Is there some place where we can discuss local meets? I'd very much like to have you all meet Titus. He's a charming boy, and quite good at making eclair pies. He is also the first victim of my world takeover, so you'll all need to get used to what it will be like. Needless to say, it will be awesome, but you need to know how it will be awesome.

Honestly, I have a hard time writing straight fiction or non-fiction. I outline a bunch, but once my outline is finished I write between 1k and 2k wph. I write slower socially, but the finished product is usually better. Now what does that say about me? I feel the need to point out that if we were writing 40,000 (exactly 40,110) words this month, we could have the daily writing goal be 1337. I vote for a change in the goal posthaste.

EDIT (Warning: Contains Truth, a material highly feared for its laxative effect. Seriously.): My novel is an epic fantasy with a dash of sci-fi post apocalyptic goodness. The story takes place in a bad guy's perspective. The main character is flawful. Full of flaws. And he kills people without remorse! Isn't it a great idea?

I like death.

Do you like death?

Greetings from Carolyn!

I'm succeeding at NaNo this year only because one of my writer friends introduced me to outlining programs.  Using them, most notably KeyNote and TreePad, (both freeware),  I can work _with_ my unbelievably nonlinear brain rather than trying to fight it.  If any of you have seen that LA interchange where 5 freeways, several railroad tracks and a metrorail come together, that's my brain.  Not joking.  These outlining programs makes the difference between 250 words per day and 2500 per day.   Now each thread can have its own track!

Can't promise an entire, comprehensible novel on November 30, but if I achieve 50,000 words, I'm in gold star territory.

Good luck, all!

Hey, just thought I'd introduce myself. I live in St. George and this is my first NaNoWriMo and I hope its not my last. I'm writing this so I feel obligated to finish this now that I've announce myself. I need all the obligation I can get, after all, I'm really just starting now because a busy first of November. I figured it out, if I want to reach my 50,000 words I'll have to write 2632 words a day. Well, here I go. Wish me luck!

May the muses be with you!

That's odd; just last week I found myself becoming an 1800s English gentleman, complete with muttonchop whiskers. Possibly a banker, too. The mania must be spreading.

Hello all!  I'm Jordan, I live in West Bountiful; a tiny rural area that's smaller than the Salt Lake Airport.  I love to write, though my first 'novel' was a horrid no-Grammar pile of crap that was only eight pages long.  The novel I'm currently writing is called 'Invasi|ion. . . . .' and is Post-Apocalyptic, with a small dash of humor.  This is my first NaNoWriMo challenge, and I definitely want to go for next years event.
